I’m going to be honest with you. This isn’t my own blog theme. Nope. I grabbed it from Smashing Magazine and their “Fervens” theme.
So as my first big project I’m going to create my own Wordpress theme. Why Wordpress? Because it’s one of the most popular blog platforms used on the net. I plan on posting about my trials and tribulations of turning my own design into a Wordpress theme and hopefully it will help someone out.
A few ideas I’m going to try and put into my blog:
- A feature post section used to showcase my projects and keep people informed of what I’m working on.
- A smaller blog section for stuff that has nothing to do with my projects.
- Use of the Twitter API in a creative way.
- Some interactive and cool sidebars/menus/functionality
- A cool portfolio page to easily display my work
- Experiment page to include all of the tinkering I’ve been doing so other people can see what I’ve discovered.
And probably more!
I do have a list in a drawer where I write down neat stuff I want to include in my site. I’m sure this list has grown.
I predict this to be a long and ongoing project so don’t expect results soon. I will be tinkering with some of the features so they might appear in this theme, who knows?!
I told myself I’d keep my blog posts short if I’m not writing a guide or a lesson so this is all I’m writing.
